Fabrizio Romano provides fresh Julian Alvarez transfer update amid interest from PSG and other clubs

Fabrizio Romano has provided a fresh update regarding Julian Alvarez's potential exit from Manchester City, amid interest from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). The forward is reportedly on the verge of leaving the Etihad Stadium, where he has remained under Erling Haaland's shadow for two seasons.

According to El Chiringuito (via GOAL), the 24-year-old forward has already rejected a contract extension that would have seen him renew for another four years. His current contract expires in 2028. He has notably played an important role with the Cityzens, scoring 11 goals and providing nine assists in 36 Premier League games last season.

However, with much of his impact coming in as a substitute to Haaland, Alvarez wishes to move to a club where he can be more of a talisman. His disinterest in a new contract with Manchester City has raised the antennas of clubs like PSG and Chelsea, both of whom are reportedly interested in him.

He has impressed for Argentina, winning the World Cup in 2022 and leading them to the final of Copa America 2024 with two goals in four games. It is hardly any surprise that Manchester City want to keep him at the club for longer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the club have scheduled talks with his representatives to discuss his position in their sporting project moving forward. They have no intentions of letting him leave for any price despite interest from PSG and other European giants. They will hope that once talks happen after Copa America is concluded, Julian Alvarez might be inclined to stay.

PSG could still move for Julian Alvarez

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, PSG could move for Julian Alvarez. City may not want to sell him, but they will be hoping to do all their transfer business before the season starts. If he continues to agitate for an exit, they may be forced to sell.

Jacobs has revealed that the Cityzens have set their valuation for the Argentine forward at €70 million, which the Parisians are capable of meeting. He explained to The Wolfpack's YouTube channel (via ManchesterCIty.News):

"At the moment, they’re prioritising other targets in a variety of different positions such as Joao Neves of Benfica, who’s very expensive, potentially Victor Osimhen, we still can’t rule out Julian Alvarez.”

The conversation they hope to have with his representatives will have to be urgent to determine if he will remain at the club moving forward. It will be difficult for the Cityzens to find an affordable replacement for him though.
