Fabrizio Romano provides update on Chelsea's transfer priorities for the 2024-25 season

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Chelsea's plans for the summer transfer window. He also offered an update on the Blues' reported interest in Fulham playmaker Andreas Pereira.

Chelsea have spent heavily in the transfer market since their Todd Boehly-led takeover by Clearlake Capital. They spent well over £1 billion over the last two seasons but their spending has been somewhat restricted this time.

Enzo Maresca's side have spent around £65 million so far this summer for five signings. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Omari Kellyman, Renato Veiga, Marc Guiu and Tosin Adarabioyo have all arrived at Stamford Bridge.

On the other hand, the Blues have received £90 million from the sales of three players, Ian Maatsen, Lewis Hall and Omari Hutchinson. With Premier League profit and sustainability rules in mind, they are reportedly looking to sell Conor Gallagher.

It has been reported that Chelsea are interested in bringing in Andreas Pereira as a replacement for Gallagher. However, Fabrizio Romano has insisted that he is not aware of any concrete interest from the Blues in the former Manchester United midfielder.

Romano also claimed that the west London giants are prioritizing three areas as they look to bolster their squad. He told Caught Offside as quoted by Football 365:

“I don’t want to deny any colleague but I don’t have information on talks between Chelsea and Andreas Pereira, or Chelsea and Fulham so far, despite what has been reported in Brazil. Chelsea’s focus is on a right-footed winger, striker, and goalkeeper. On Pereira’s future in general, it will depend on opportunities and what kind of proposals he will receive.”

Having parted ways with Mauricio Pochettino after just one season, the Blues appointed Enzo Maresca as his successor. The Italian caught the eye with Leicester City last season as the Foxes won the Championship.

Premier League side enquire for out-of-favor Chelsea winger: Reports

Newcastle United have reportedly inquired about the availability of Chelsea winger Noni Madueke. As reported by Football Insider, the Magpies have shortlisted the 22-year-old as an option as they look to bolster their right flank.

Eddie Howe's side are also reportedly monitoring West Ham United winger Jarrod Bowen and Leeds United attacker Crysencio Summerville. They initially wanted Michael Olise but the Frenchman joined Bayern Munich from Crystal Palace.

With Chelsea believed to be looking to balance their books to comply with PSR regulations, the Tynesiders believe that Madueke could be an attainable target. The Englishman has only been a bit-part player for the London giants following his £29 million switch in January 2023.

Madueke played just 1593 minutes of football across 34 games across competitions last season. Despite his struggle for playing time, he contributed with eight goals and three assists.
