Fabrizio Romano provides update on Jadon Sancho's future at Manchester United
Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Jadon Sancho's future at Manchester United, following the winger's reconciliation with manager Erik ten Hag. Notably, both men didn't see eye to eye for many long months, after Sancho lashed out at Ten Hag on social media last season.
The Red Devils boss demanded an apology from the England winger. He left him training with the youth players and rescinding access to first-team facilities as well. Sancho refused, eventually leaving on loan to Borussia Dortmund in January, and helping the German side reach the final of the UEFA Champions League.
However, the summer transfer window came with reconciliation between the player and his manager, with Ten Hag accepting Sancho at Old Trafford once more. The 24-year-old has begun pre-season with Manchester United, even going on tour to the US with them, partaking in friendlies.
However, this doesn't mean that Jadon Sancho will stay at Old Trafford for the next season. There have already been rumors about a potential move in the works, with as many as four clubs interested in signing the winger. However, as Fabrizio Romano has revealed, the final say lies with Erik ten Hag. He told GiveMeSport:
“This pre-season tour is really important for Jadon Sancho, the feeling they will have on and off the pitch, so it's on Man United now. They have to decide what they want to do, and then we will understand the future of Sancho. But at the moment, it really depends on the club and also on the manager, and the feeling he will have with the player.”
Sancho will be hoping he can continue his career at Manchester United. He's failed to meet expectations, following his £73 million move three years ago.
Former player urges Manchester United to sell Jadon Sancho
Jadon Sancho's future is uncertain at the club, and now, former players like Jamie O'Hara are pushing for his sale. The former player revealed to Grosvenor Sport that the winger's career doesn't lie at Old Trafford (via TeamTalk):
“I think Jadon Sancho will leave Manchester United. I can’t see that situation being resolved between him and Erik ten Hag, they don’t have any respect for each other anymore. The amount of money they spent on him, it’s been an absolute disaster for them."
Before Sancho joined up with United, he made a name for himself at Borussia Dortmund, playing regularly across four seasons. His impressive return of 17 goals and 16 assists in 32 games in 2019-20 put him on the map. After following that up with 19 league-goal contributions the next season, United made their move to sign him.
However, his time at Old Trafford did not yield a similar return, as he managed just three goals and three assists in 29 Premier League games in his first season. The next season saw only six league goals and three assists as the forward struggled to find form.
