Cristiano Ronaldo received a yellow card in Portugal's Euro 2024 clash against Georgia
Cristiano Ronaldo received a yellow card in the 27th minute in Portugal's final Euro 2024 group stage game against Georgia. He was booked for dissent after arguing with the referee and demanding a penalty for a struggle during a set piece.
After Georgia's Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scored within the first few minutes of the game (2'), Portugal tried hard to equalize and missed a couple of chances. In the 26th minute, Ronaldo headed into the penalty box to get on the end of a cross.
However, Georgian defender Luka Lochoshvili caught hold of his shirt and pulled him down as the ball shot into the Georgian penalty box but missed the net by inches. Cristiano Ronaldo demanded a penalty, but referee Sandro Scharer did not pay heed to his complaints and instead showed him a yellow card for dissent.
The Portuguese captain is yet to score in Euro 2024 and will be looking to open his account in the knockouts.
