AS Monaco midfielder Cesc Fabregas believes it was not right of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) fans to boo Lionel Messi and Neymar during their home game against FC Bordeaux. The Parisian side went on to claim a 3-0 win in that Ligue 1 match on Sunday.

Fabregas took to Twitter to condemn the fans' behavior and show his support for the attacking pair.

"Football has no memory whatsoever… it’s a shame," he wrote. "Always with you brothers."

PSG haven't enjoyed the best of times of late. They first suffered a shock defeat to OGC Nice in Ligue 1 before being dumped out of the Champions League by Real Madrid. The Parisian giants suffered a 3-1 defeat at the Santiago Bernabeu after Karim Benzema netted a hat-trick in the second half to end their hopes.

Mauricio Pochettino's side lost the Round of 16 tie despite winning the first leg 1-0 and leading the second leg by a goal until half-time. Both Messi and Neymar had poor outings against Real Madrid, which prompted PSG supporters to jeer the duo before their game against Bordeaux.

The booing couldn't make a difference, though, as goals from Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Leandro Paredes secured all three points for the Ligue 1 giants. Lionel Messi, however, did not make a single goal contribution once again.

How have Lionel Messi and Neymar performed for PSG this season?

Both Lionel Messi and Neymar have had relatively poor seasons by their lofty standards. Messi joined PSG in the summer of 2021 from Barcelona and has found it hard to get accustomed to his new surroundings in the French capital.

The 34-year-old forward has scored seven goals and provided 11 assists in 26 appearances for the Parisian giants across competitions so far. However, only two of his goals have come in Ligue 1.

At the turn of the year, it seemed like Lionel Messi had found his touch. The Argentine skipper registered a goal and six assists in a span of five games before going without a single goal contribution in two matches.

Neymar, on the other hand, has had yet another season tormented by injuries. The Brazilian superstar has only recently returned from an ankle injury that he picked up last November. However, the 30-year-old forward has not been at his best even when he has played for the club.

The former Barcelona star has contributed four goals and five assists in 20 appearances across all competitions.
