"Football will miss you, life will miss you" - Harry Maguire shares Craig Shakespeare tribute as ex-Leicester boss dies

Manchester United defender, Harry Maguire has paid his respects to former Leicester City boss Craig Shakespeare following news of his death. The late Englishman was responsible for signing the 31-year-old for the Foxes from Hull City in 2017.

The 60-year-old manager recently passed away and his death had seen tributes come in from across the football world. Shakespeare was better known for his role as an assistant manager, performing the role at Everton, Watford, Aston Villa, Norwich, and Leicester City. He stepped into the manager's seat with the Foxes after the dismissal of English Premier League-winning hero Claudio Ranieri for 26 games.

Harry Maguire, who was signed by Shakespeare from Hull City for €13.7 million, wrote on his social media accounts:

"The man who signed me for Leicester, the man who gave me so much belief, the man I learnt so much from. I will be forever grateful. Football will miss you, life will miss you. An incredible man. My thoughts are with all his family at this difficult time. RIP Shakey"

Craig Shakespeare had recently returned to the 2017 Premier League Champions as an assistant manager in April this year before his death.

Craig Shakespeare believed Harry Maguire could be future England Captain

Back in 2017, recently deceased English Manager Craig Shakespeare said he believed Harry Maguire had the makings of a future England captain. The defender quickly established himself as a key part of the Foxes' defense since arriving in 2017.

Shakespeare spoke to Sky Sports after the defender was called up to the England senior squad for the first time in 2017. The then Foxes boss insisted that Maguire was good enough to start for and eventually captain the national team, saying:

"I don't see any reason he can't. Since day one I've mentioned his character. It's vitally important you bring the right characters in. Now his communication has got a lot lot better with the back four. He's aware of what he has to do."

The then Leicester City boss concluded:

"For him, personally, it's the recognition he deserves. I think he's impressed everybody with his ability, of course, but also his character and we're all delighted for him at the football club and he can be really pleased with his overall performance since he's been here."

Craig Shakespeare didn't manage the defender for the whole season, getting dismissed in October of 2017. Maguire, however, went on to prove his worth for the Three Lions and has made 63 caps and scored seven goals.
