Former Chelsea star Victor Moses joins surprise English club

Former Chelsea ace Victor Moses has completed a move to Championship side Luton Town, returning to English football after a stint in Russia. The versatile attacker will play for his fourth permanent English side, having previously represented Crystal Palace and Wigan Athletic.

Moses made a name for himself as one of the brightest young talents in English football during his time at Wigan Athletic from 2010 until 2012. The forward spent four years at Spartak Moscow in the Russian top-flight, where he first moved on loan from the Blues.

Luton Town featured in the Premier League in the 2023-24 season but were relegated back to the Championship despite performing valiantly. They finished in 18th place, six points from safety.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the 33-year-old Victor Moses has secured a permanent move to the Hatters as a free agent after leaving Russia. The length of his contract was not disclosed, but he has been unveiled as a new player for the side.

Moses contributed 10 goals and 10 assists in 84 appearances for Spartak Moscow, winning the Russian Cup once, in 2022. Prior to this, he made 128 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 18 goals and providing 12 assists for the Blues. He won the Premier League with the club in the 2016-17 season under Antonio Conte, playing as a wing-back.

Luton Town have had a tough re-introduction to life in the Championship, picking up just one point from their opening four games. They will hope that the former Chelsea man can bring some much-needed quality to their ranks and get their season back on track.
