Germany handed fitness boost as key man set to be fit for Euro 2024 knockouts after recent hamstring issues - Reports
As per reports, Germany defender Antonio Rudiger has recovered from his hamstring injury to be available for the Euro 2024 Round of 16 clash with Denmark on Saturday, June 29.
The Real Madrid defender played the full 90 minutes in the final group game against Switzerland, which ended 1-1. Rudiger, though, suffered a hamstring injury in that game.
His participation in that game was under the scanner. Manager Julian Nagelsmann, though, has confirmed that Rudiger has rejoined the team's training session and could be in line to face Denmark in the Round of 16 (via The Star):
"At the moment, it looks like he will be fit again."
Antonio Rudiger's availability could be a massive boost for Germany. Jonathan Tah is set to miss the Round of 16 game through suspension. Hence, Rudiger and Nico Schlotterbeck could fit in at the heart of the German defence.
Rudiger has started all three of his team's games at Euro 2024. He's a massively experienced player at the international level, making 72 appearances.
Rudi Voler provides update on Germany defender Antonio Rudiger fitness issues at Euro 2024
Speaking during Euro 2024, Germany's director of football, Rudi Voler, provided an update on defender Antonio Rudiger's fitness. Voler revealed that the matter has been handled day by day.
Speaking to the media, Voler said (via Mundo Deportivo):
"Today he had a short running session in the morning, now we have to wait day by day.
"In the end, Antonio and the medical department have to decide together. At the moment, it is still too early to say anything definitive. As I said, he had a good race session this morning."
Nagelsmann will have to make a call as Die Mannschaft play Denmark within 24 hours. Given Rudiger's importance to the German defence, his availability could be a massive boost.
Germany are undefeated at Euro 2024. After ripping apart Scotland 5-1 in their opening game, the hosts beat Hungary 2-0. They managed a come-from-behind 1-1 draw against Switzerland in their final group game.
