“Getting disrespected”, “What the hell is this” - Real Madrid fans furious as Carlo Ancelotti drops attacker from line-up to face Real Sociedad
Real Madrid have conveyed their fury on X after Carlo Ancelotti dropped Rodrygo from his starting XI to face Real Sociedad. The two LaLiga sides are set to face off against each other at the Reale Arena later tonight (Saturday, September 14).
Los Blancos have had a difficult start to their season, drawing two of their opening four games. They are currently third in the table with eight points, four behind rivals Barcelona.
Thibaut Courtois starts in goal for Real Madrid. Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao, Antonio Rudiger, and Ferland Mendy make up the defense. The midfield consists of Arda Guler, Fede Valverde, and Luka Modric. Brahim Diaz, Vinicius Junior, and Kylian Mbappe start up front, with Rodrygo being named on the bench.

"It is injustice" - Rivaldo reacts after Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo gets snubbed from 2024 Ballon d'Or
Brazil icon Rivaldo has reacted after Real Madrid's Rodrygo was omitted from the final 30-man 2024 Ballon d'Or shortlist. Despite having a successful 2023-24 campaign, the 23-year-old wasn't included in the final list to battle for the prestigious award. The ceremony is set to take place at the Theatre du Chatelet on October 28, 2024.
Rodrygo scored 17 goals and provided nine assists in 51 appearances across all competitions last season. His feats helped Los Blancos win three trophies - the LaLiga title, UEFA Champions League, and Supercopa de Espana.
Rivaldo said (via Republic World):
“What is the Ballon d’Or criteria if someone like Rodrygo is not nominated? It is difficult to understand this. Rodrygo is a potential Ballon d’Or. It is injustice that he is not nominated”
Rodrygo's Real Madrid teammates Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham are among the favorites to win the Ballon d'Or this year.
