"Getting relegated next season" "No top 4 again" - Manchester United fans react to latest news on Erik ten Hag's long-term future
Manchester United fans expressed their disappointment after reports of Erik ten Hag agreeing a new contract at Old Trafford emerged recently. The Red Devils faithful believe that the club will not be challenging for the top 4 once again, while some claimed that they are set to batle relegation next season.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that Ten Hag is set to pen a new deal as the talks regarding a new deal have progressed well. He added that the final details are being chalked out and there will be new additions to his coaching staff soon.
"Manchester United to relegate next year," said a fan on X.
The same was echoed by another fan who said, "Man utd is getting relegated next season."
The rival fans are happy with the news as one added - "More trolling and no top 4 again hahaha."
However, not all Manchester United fans were upset with the news. Some were optimistic about the report with one saying on X:
"It is time to get new signings in! Branthwaite, Zirkzee and Yoro for starters."
Another added on X: "We will win a lot of trophies together BOSS! Finally our club is acting like a BIG CLUB!"
Erik ten Hag confirms Manchester United held talks with other managers this summer
Erik ten Hag's future at Manchester United was hanging in the balance this summer after the club finished 8th in the Premier League last season. The Red Devils managed to win the FA Cup at the very end of the season and that reportedly tilted the balance in the Dutchman's favor.
Ten Hag spoke on Dutch TV earlier this month and confirmed that the club held talks with Thomas Tuchel and said:
"The club management came to me while I was on holiday in Ibiza. They suddenly showed up on my doorstep and told me they wanted to continue with me. It was a turbulent season. Never a dull moment. Man United have told me that they spoke with Tuchel, but they eventually came to the conclusion that they already have the best manager."
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has also shed light on the situation and stated that the manager was not the main issue at the club and they decided to stick with him.
