"God's plan" - Real Madrid superstars mock Drake after rapper loses £537,000 bet on Barcelona in El Clasico

Real Madrid stars Rodrygo and David Alaba mocked Canadian rapper and R&B icon Drake after he lost a whopping £537,000 bet, backing Barcelona in El Clasico.

Real Madrid beat Barcelona 3-1 in this season's first competitive El Clasico on Sunday (October 16). Drake, whose brand logo (OVO owl) Barca featured on their shirts to celebrate him becoming the first person with 50 billion Spotify streams, backed Xavi’s men to win in Madrid.

The four-time Grammy winner placed a whopping CA$8333,333 (about £537,000) bet in a two-leg parlay, backing Arsenal and Barcelona to win their respective matches (via talkSPORT). While the Gunners managed to beat Leeds United, the Blaugrana failed to overcome the defending Spanish champions.

Real Madrid players Rodrygo and Alaba mocked Drake for betting big on Barca on Sunday, with them taking to Instagram to share their views. Rodrygo put up an Instagram Story with him celebrating his goal, pointing towards the crest, with the caption:

“God’s Plan.”

The caption was an indirect dig at Drake, who has a 2018 hit song of the same name.

Alaba, on the other hand, tagged Drake’s Instagram account and told him that it was not wise of him to bet against the All Whites. His post’s caption read:

“Sorry bro @champagnepapi, @realmadrid was the only way to go 🤷🏾‍♂️ Hala Madrid! 🤍”

Karim Benzema, Fede Valverde, and Rodrygo each scored a goal for the Whites on Sunday, while Ferran Torres bagged Barca’s only goal. The win allowed Los Blancos to open up a three-point lead at the top of the La Liga table (25 points after nine games).

Los Blancos’ dependable center-back David Alaba did not put a step wrong in the match against the Catalans on Sunday. He recorded three clearances, made six recoveries, won two of three duels, and succeeded in his only tackle. The Austrian made sure his former Bayern Munich teammate Robert Lewandowski did not have a clear view of Andre Lunin’s goal.

While Alaba was there from the start, Rodrygo came off the bench and made an instant impact. Coming on for Vinicius Junior in the 85th minute, Rodrygo straight away took the fight to the visitors and won a penalty in the 90th minute.

Barcelona centre-back Eric Garcia was dazzled by the Real Madrid attacker’s quick feet, committing a blatant foul on him inside the box. The Brazilian stepped up to take the penalty and found the bottom right corner to seal a 3-1 victory for Real Madrid.
