Fans have reacted on social media after Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta signed a contract extension with the Gunners. The midfielder-turned-manager has been an important part of the north London club in recent years, since joining them in 2019.
He notably played at the club from 2011 till 2016, before spending three years as an assistant coach at Manchester City under Pep Guardiola. After this, he returned to the Emirates Stadium as Arsenal's head coach in December 2019.
In 2020, the Gunners won the FA Cup and the Community Shield under his guidance. He also won the Community Shield in 2023. In his first two seasons, Arteta led them to eighth place in the Premier League. Soon after, it clicked for the Spanish tactician as they finished fifth in his third season.
In the next two seasons, Mikel Arteta led Arsenal against the juggernauts that are Manchester City, finishing second in two consecutive seasons. They have also returned to the UEFA Champions League and look like strong contenders for success under the Spaniard.
Fans took to social media after his contract extension was announced, showing their pleasure in the decision to keep him for three more years. They had posts like these:

Mikel Arteta has spoken about his decision to sign a contract extension that will see him continue at the helm of affairs at Arsenal until 2027. He made it clear that he was prepared to exceed expectations, telling the club media (via Sky Sports):
"I feel extremely lucky to work every single day with good people and the ambition we have here. I feel very inspired, I feel challenged, I feel supported and I want to do much more than what we've already done together."
Looking forward, Mikel Arteta will have his eyes set on their upcoming north London derby against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, September 15. Spurs are currently sitting in 10th place on the Premier League table, having won once, drawn once, and lost once in their last three games.
The Gunners, on the other hand, are fourth on the Premier League table after winning two games and then drawing against Brighton & Hove Albion.
