“Got their very own Yamal”, “Forget Antony” - Fans react to display from Manchester United attacker in pre-season game vs Rangers

Manchester United fans hailed Amad Diallo on X after he had an excellent performance in their 2-0 win against Rangers. The two sides faced each other in a pre-season friendly at the Murrayfield Stadium on Saturday, July 20.

Erik ten Hag gave Diallo an opportunity to shine, deploying him in the starting XI alongside other seasoned stars, including Mason Mount, Jadon Sancho, and Casemiro. Diallo looked like the Red Devils' most threatening player in the first half, nearly setting up Ethan Wheatley in the 17th minute, before narrowly missing a free-kick.

The 22-year-old attempted a daring overhead kick in the 32nd minute but the ball was just about cleared away by a Rangers defender. He deservedly broke the deadlock seven minutes later when he cut in, before unleashing a powerful shot in the bottom corner. Joe Hugill scored in the 70th minute to seal the win for Manchester United.

Diallo only made 12 appearances across all competitions last season for the Red Devils but is already giving Ten Hag a selection dilemma ahead of the new season. During his 45 minutes on the pitch, he created three chances, won six duels, and completed 25 out of an attempted 29 passes with an accuracy of 86 percent.

One fan reacted by posting:
