John Terry slams Zlatan Ibrahimovic for claiming Chelsea couldn't sign him

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is currently with AC Milan as an advisor, played for nine clubs during his playing career. In Italy, he represented both the Milan clubs and Juventus. He briefly played for Barcelona in LaLiga as well while he started off his career with Malmo FF in Sweden.

He also had spells in the Netherlands, England, and the USA with Ajax, Manchester United, and LA Galaxy, respectively. One club that wanted to sign him but couldn't was Premier League side Chelsea.

An old quote from the former Swedish striker was trending recently where he explained why he never joined the Blues. He is quoted to have said (via SportBible):

"Chelsea couldn't sign me. I have more trophies than Chelsea. They should have been the ones signing me."

Chelsea legend John Terry came across the quote on Instagram recently and aimed a sly dig at the striker.

"He didn't want to be on the bench," said Terry while tagging the club's legendary striker Didier Drogba.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic's dislike of Chelsea dates prior to his time in the Premier League with Manchester United. The outspoken forward was playing for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in 2015 when they were drawn against Chelsea in the Champions League.

While PSG went through on away goals, Zlatan was given a red card for a foul on Oscar in the second leg. The Chelsea players gathered around complaining about the foul to which the PSG forward called them "a bunch of babies" after the match.
