"Has been transformed by Slot" "What a player" - Liverpool fans hail 'special' Reds star for his showing in 4-0 Leverkusen win

Liverpool fans have taken to social media to hail Reds winger Luis Diaz for his brilliant performance in their 4-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen. The two sides faced off in the Champions League at Anfield on Tuesday night (November 5).

Much of their quality in front of goal came through Luis Diaz, with the Colombian scoring a hat-trick. After a goalless first half, Liverpool quickly took control of the proceedings in the second 45, with the 27-year-old unleashing his talent.

Diaz broke the deadlock in the 61st minute, thanks to an assist from Curtis Jones. The second goal came only two minutes later, with Mohamed Salah finding Cody Gakpo, who finished accurately.

In the 83rd minute, Diaz added his name to the scoresheet for the second time before latching onto a loose ball to complete his hat-trick (90+2').

After the game, the Anfield faithful took to social media platform X to share their delight in his performance with comments.

"Diaz has been transformed by Slot - he’s a killer in front of goal now like Mane was," a fan was pleased.
"Roberto Firmino is smiling somewhere now. Luis Diaz, Wow," another was stunned.
"Diaz has done something special," a third added.
"Luis diaz. What a player," a fourth remarked.
"Luis Diaz, Arne Slot and Salah, ruined the homecoming for Xabi Alonso," this fan said.
"Luiz Diaz 🎶 He’s from Barancas and he plays for Liverpool 🎶" a fan sang.

Xabi Alonso speaks about 4-0 loss to Liverpool

Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso has spoken about his side's 4-0 loss to the Merseyside giants at Anfield. In a match where they were strongly expected to compete, the German champions struggled to match up in the second half.

Alonso told Amazon Prime Video (via Liverpool.com):

"It can happen that you come to Anfield and lose. To lose 4-0 is not nice. They are a top, top team and they punished us. It was a pity we couldn't hold 1-0 for 15 to 20 minutes. They did it against Brighton, they did it against us."
"We were ready to come here and give our best. We did okay for some part but the game changed in 20 minutes. Liverpool are strong. We lacked some power and consistency. Defeat, accept it, congratulate Liverpool and move on," he added.

The Reds have won all four of their UEFA Champions League games this season and are atop the standings.
