"He is a bigger game player than Ronaldo and Messi", "Can win the Ballon d'Or" - Fans hail Liverpool superstar after comeback win over Southampton
Fans on X have hailed Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah after his brace inspired the Reds to a 3-2 comeback win against Southampton in their Premier League clash. The two sides locked horns at St. Mary's Stadium on Sunday, November 24.
The Saints were punished early on for playing out at the back when goalkeeper Alex McCarthy's pass led to a series of errors in the box. Dominik Szoboszlai capitalized on a poor clearance to curl the ball in off the far post to make it 1-0 in the 30th minute.
Andy Robertson was conceded a penalty 10 minutes later after fouling Tyler Dibling on the edge of the box. Adam Armstrong had his spot-kick saved by Caoimhin Kelleher but scored off the rebound to level the scores (42').
Southampton launched a brilliant counter-attack in the 56th minute which was well finished by Mateus Fernandes to give the hosts the lead. However, Salah got his side back into the game nine minutes later finishing past an onrushing McCarthy. The Egyptian King then converted his penalty in the 83rd minute to give Liverpool the win.
Salah also struck the post late on and was unfortunate not to score a hat-trick. The 32-year-old has been brilliant this season for Liverpool, garnering 12 goals and 10 assists in 18 appearances across competitions.
One Liverpool fan reckons Salah is a bigger game player than both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, posting on X:
