“He can score with any service” - Mikel Arteta lavishes praise on ‘little magician’ at Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has heaped praise on Leandro Trossard after the Belgian scored in the Premier League away win against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, April 20.

Trossard started the game in the attack alongside Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka. He scored the opener for Arteta's side on the stroke of half-time (45'). While Trossard didn't catch the ball as cleanly as he would have liked, his effort ended up in the top corner.

Arteta heaped praise on the 29-year-old, pointing out his ability to play across different positions and make the most of his chances. He said (via football.london):

"He's a little magician. He can score with any service. He's a big threat. So composed, so cool, he can play in different positions. Just a joy to have in the team."

Trossard joined the Gunners in January 2023 from Brighton & Hove Albion for a reported £27 million. He has since become a versatile player in the attack, scoring 15 goals and providing 12 assists in 63 appearances across competitions.

This season, Trossard has made 41 appearances, starting 20 of those games. He has racked up 14 goals and laid out two assists so far.

Arsenal, meanwhile, returned to winning ways after breaking their two-game skid across competitions. Arteta's side returned to the summit of the Premier League courtesy of their win against Wolves. They have 74 points from 33 matches, one more than second-placed Manchester City, who have a game in hand.

Leandro Trossard lauds Arsenal's response after recent losses

Arsenal came into the Wolves clash after suffering back-to-back losses to Aston Villa (EPL) and Bayern Munich (UCL). However, they got back to winning ways on Saturday against Wolves.

Trossard was a key player during the clash at Molineux and his opening goal gave Mikel Arteta's side some much-needed breathing room. Speaking after the match, Trossard said (via the Gunners' website):

"We wanted to show the response today and I think we've done that. Another clean sheet, two great goals - it's a perfect win for us."

Arsenal return to action on Tuesday, April 23, as they take on Chelsea in a Premier League clash at the Emirates. Arteta's side cannot afford anymore slip-ups if they are to win their first Premier League title since 2004.
