"He has clear chances in every game" - Real Madrid chief speaks up on misfiring Kylian Mbappe's recent struggles
Real Madrid chief Emilio Butragueno has given his take on Kylian Mbappe's recent form at the club. The French forward has made a slow start to life in the Spanish capital and his performance in two recent big games has come under scanner.
Mbappe failed to find the back of the net against both Barcelona (lost 0-4) and AC Milan (lost 1-3), but Butragueno believes not all is gloom for the French forward.
Speaking about Mbappe's misfiring form after their 3-1 loss to AC Milan at home in the UEFA Champions League, he said (via Tribal Football):
"But he has clear chances in every game. The fact that the striker has chances is a good sign, but he doesn't have that amount of luck that strikers need. He also had very clear chances against Barça. Sometimes these situations happen. He is a player of enormous quality and it is normal for him to score again."
Mbappe has registered eight goals and two assists in 15 games for his new team so far. Reacting further to the 1-3 loss against AC Milan on November 5, Butragueno said:
"The game, obviously a bad result, was not what we expected. We know that we have to be solid, but they took advantage of their chances. It was a very adverse result. Madrid always wants to win and it wasn't possible. The way out is to work very hard and move forward."
Carlo Ancelotti concerned by Real Madrid's poor form
Speaking to a press conference after their second successive loss, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti said (via India Today):
"We have to be concerned, the team is not playing well. The team is not compact, we need to be more compact, more organised, we've conceded a lot of goals. The team is not well organised on the pitch and we need to work on this."
He added:
"We have to focus on what we have today, which is a team that is not at its best, and get back to our level so we can fight for all competitions."
Los Blancos are currently 17th in the UEFA Champions League table with two wins and two losses in the competition. Madrid are second in LaLiga standings, with 24 points after 11 games, nine behind leaders Barcelona, who have played one game more.
