“He couldn’t put the Bundesliga title in there” - Jude Bellingham jokingly mocked by Real Madrid teammate David Alaba
Jude Bellingham was on the receiving end of some witty banter from Real Madrid teammate David Alaba. The English superstar received a piece of artwork from Gambian footballer and artist Alieu Sawaneh.
The Real Madrid superstar was presented with a painting of himself by Sawaneh at the La Liga giants' training complex. The artwork was a drawing of Bellingham, 20, and his achievements were listed.
Sawaneh informed Bellingham about the contents of the picture (via Madrid Xtra):
"I put all your stats and achievements in here."
Alaba was also present during the encounter and the Austrian took the opportunity to prod the stick at his English teammate:
"But he couldn’t put the Bundesliga title in here… (laughs).”
Bellingham responded:
"Hey, hey, hey…"
Jude Bellingham doesn't need reminding of his failure to win the Bundesliga title with Borussia Dortmund. The 2023 Golden Boy winner nearly finished his Signal Iduna Park career with the title but fell short on the final day of the season.
Alaba's former club Bayern Munich beat BvB to Bundesliga glory. They did so by the slimmest of margins, with a superior goal difference of 15 goals after the two German giants settled on 71 points.
Bellingham starred for Dortmund last season, registering eight goals and five assists in 31 Bundesliga games. He became the youngest captain in the competition's history.
It was the 29-cap England international's stellar performances for die Schwarzgelben that earned him a €103 million move to Real Madrid. He's become a Santiago Bernabeu fan favorite with 20 goals and 10 assists in 35 games across competitions.
Jude Bellingham hailed Real Madrid teammate Rodrygo as a 'big game player'
Real Madrid enjoyed a superb week as they knocked reigning European champions Manchester City out of the UEFA Champions League. Los Blancos won 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw (4-4 aggregate) at the Etihad.
Rodrygo opened the scoring for the visitors on the night (April 17). He showed persistence after his initial close-range effort was denied, tapping in the rebound.
It was the Brazilian attacker's second goal of the Champions League quarterfinal tie against City over both legs. He impressed in both games and Jude Bellingham pointed that out after Madrid sealed a place in the semifinals.
Bellingham responded to Rodrygo's Instagram post to inform him that he is a:
"Big game player."
Rodrygo has shone this season with 17 goals and eight assists in 44 games across competitions. He's flourished in important games such as the two City games and in a 4-1 win against Barcelona in the Supercopa de Espana where he scored and assisted.
