"He doesn’t one bit look out of place" - England star heaps praise on Euro 2024 teammate Kobbie Mainoo

England midfielder Kobbie Mainoo received high praise from teammate Ivan Toney for his performances for the Three Lions at Euro 2024. The teenager has helped the team reach the quarter-finals.

Manager Gareth Southgate named the 19-year-old Mainoo in his squad for the Euros after he had a strong season with Manchester United. The youngster helped his club win the FA Cup, scoring in the 2-1 final win over Manchester City.

Mainoo has continued in the same vein on the international stage, featuring thrice at Euro 2024 for the Three Lions. The midfielder is the youngest player in Southgate's squad but has provided good quality.

Toney, another player in the England squad, has praised the teenager for the quality he has shown so far. The Brentford man, who spoke with the press ahead of the quarterfinals, had nice words for the Manchester United man.

“Everybody knows his qualities. For club football, he’s played a massive part of the season. He carries himself so well on the pitch. He doesn’t one bit look out of place and has a bright future ahead of him.”

Mainoo made his first start of the tournament in the 2-1 Round of 16 extra-time win over Slovakia, replacing Conor Gallagher in the XI. The youngster recorded 77 touches, completing 65 of 68 attempted passes and registering a key pass.

Expectations are that Mainoo will keep his place in the starting XI against Switzerland after a stellar showing in the last game. The youngster has proven that he's a better option in midfield than Liverpool man Trent Alexander-Arnold due to the balance he brings.

England star Marc Guehi on the radar of Real Madrid after quality showings - Reports

England defender Marc Guehi has become the latest defender on the radar of Real Madrid after a strong Euro 2024 campaign. The Crystal Palace man has replaced Harry Maguire excellently, shining at the heart of the Three Lions' defence.

Real Madrid are intent on signing a new centre-back following the exit of Nacho Fernandez to the Saudi league. They have made attempts to sign French teenager Leny Yoro from Lille, but his club have proved to be tough negotiators, leading to a stalemate in negotiations.

Guehi, meanwhile, has featured in all of England's games at Euro 2024 so far, but will miss the quarterfinal due to suspension. The Sun reports interest from the European champions in the defender, who was once on the books of Chelsea. He will cost in the region of £50 million and could move this summer.
