“He was flying at the time” - When Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall revealed he once cleaned Chelsea legend’s boots

New Chelsea signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall revealed that he once had to clean Chelsea and Leicester City legend N'Golo Kante's boots during the 2015-16 season. Dewsbury-Hall was a youth player with the Foxes at the time.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall narrated the story in an old interview with Rising Ballers. He said:

"There was a list on the changing room doors & there was a list pf the lads and who's boots they got (to clean). I got to my name & I see N'Golo Kante.
"He was flying at the time, I thought: I need to make sure this guys boots are absolutely spotless every day, because if he starts playing bad I don't want anyone to blame it on his boots being dirty.
"I'd see him on the training ground ever so often and he'd be like thanking me for his boots because he's such a nice guy."

Kante was on the books of Leicester City for just one season, helping them win the Premier League in the 2015-16 season before moving to Chelsea. The Frenchman then helped the Blues win the league, while also winning the UEFA Champions League, Europa League and FIFA Club World Cup during his time at the club.

Chelsea have done a great deal of business with Leicester City over the years, with the £30 million signing of Dewsbury-Hall the latest in their list of signings from the Foxes. The likes of Kante, Danny Drinkwater, Ben Chilwell and Wesley Fofana have all swapped the King Power Stadium for Stamford Bridge in recent years.

Chelsea defender facing uncertain future as new season nears - Reports

Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell is reportedly facing an uncertain future under Enzo Maresca at the club as the start of preseason gets closer. The Telegraph report that the Blues' vice-captain may be facing a future away from the club under the new manager.

Chilwell has struggled with injuries in recent years, playing only 13 league games for the Blues last season. His case will not be helped by the fact that new manager Maresca is not a fan of out-and-out full-backs, as evidenced by his tactics at Leicester City last season.

With Marc Cucurella having ended the 2023-24 season strongly and the club in pursuit of Riccardo Calafiori, Chilwell may be sold to create space. The 27-year-old may prove difficult to be moved on due to his injury record and the fact that he is among the highest earners at Stamford Bridge.
