"He is that good" – Don Hutchinson says Liverpool could win Premier League title if they sign Chelsea target

Ex-Liverpool midfielder Don Hutchison has claimed that the Reds would be able to lift the 2023-24 Premier League title if they manage to sign Chelsea target Moises Caicedo this summer.

Taking to Twitter, Hutchison shared his two cents on Premier League title favorites, naming Manchester City as his clear-cut choice. However, the former Everton star also mentioned Jurgen Klopp's side, writing:

"As it stands (without any signings) Manchester City are my obvious favourites to win the Premier League, but I stand by if Liverpool sign Caicedo (on top of what they have already got) they could win it. He is that good!"

The Reds, who finished fifth in the Premier League table last season, are currently in the process of refreshing their entire midfield. They have lost Jordan Henderson, and Fabinho for £52 million, and released James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita of late.

Jurgen Klopp's outfit were heavily linked with Caicedo, who has been subject to a host of Chelsea bids in the recent past, earlier this year. But, they reportedly opted to cool their interest in the Ecuadorian midfielder due to his exorbitant asking price north of £100 million.

However, Football Insider has recently stated that Liverpool have rejoined the race to sign the Chelsea target. The Reds are said to have submitted a £80 million offer to rope in the Independiente del Valle academy product this summer following their high-profile departures.

Caicedo, 21, is reportedly keen to secure a switch away from the Seagulls despite penning a new deal until June 2027 earlier this year. He is believed to have agreed personal terms with the Blues a while ago.

So far, the Liverpool and Chelsea target have scored two goals and provided three assists in 53 matches across competitions for Brighton so far.

Who all are Liverpool's alternative targets if they fail to sign Chelsea target this month?

Liverpool are currently scouring the market to rope in at most two more midfielders ahead of the 2023-24 campaign. They have signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai from Brighton and RB Leipzig, respectively, dishing out a combined sum of around £95 million.

The Reds are expected to lodge a third and final offer for Southampon star Romeo Lavia in the coming days, as per reporter Sacha Tavolieri. Their earlier bids of £37 million and £41 million were rejected last month as the Saints are holding out for a fee of £50 million.

Jurgen Klopp's team is also allegedly keeping an eye on Fluminense star Andre and Fiorentina ace Sofyan Amrabat. They are expected to make a move for either of the midfielders if they fail to beat Chelsea in the transfer races to rope in Moises Caicedo or Lavia.
