“He is jogging around” - Ex-Premier League manager slams Kobbie Mainoo, says Manchester United starlet has caught ‘Casemiro bug’

Tim Sherwood has accused Manchester United midfielders Kobbie Mainoo and Christian Eriksen of being lazy.

The Red Devils surrendered a lead to draw 1-1 against Burnley in their latest Premier League clash at Old Trafford on Saturday, April 27. Sherwood has accused United's midfield of not putting enough work in.

The former Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur manager claimed that Mainoo and Eriksen were akin to Casemiro in terms of their work ethic during the clash against the Clarets. The Brazilian has often been accused of being lazy this term.

Sherwood thinks Mainoo and Eriksen also showed traits similar to the ex-Real Madrid midfielder. Analyzing United's latest performance, Sherwood said (via Football365):

"I can't see what they [Manchester United] do. In possession, they're all about moments and out of possession, they're a shambles. They really are. The worrying thing is that the midfield does not run, when the ball gets played behind them their heads start wobbling."

He added:

"That's down to the manager telling them and identifying it. Kobbie Mainoo, I like him, I really like him but he has caught the Casemiro bug where he is jogging around the pitch. Christian Eriksen is the same- he's one of the most honest players you're ever going to find."

Tim Sherwood blamed Manchester United's culture for Kobbie Mainoo's lack of effort

Tim Sherwood has claimed that Kobbie Mainoo's lack of effort could be down to Manchester United's culture. Sherwood also opined that Mainoo used to show a lot of enthusiasm.

He claimed that the player's agent or the coaches of the youth team needed to have a word with Mainoo to get his head straight. Sherwood said (via football365):

"I think it is a culture there. Not willing to run. They aren't running enough. They need to be able to run. If I was Kobbie's agent or his youth team coach, I would say to him: 'when you first went into the team, you ran around with a desire. You're not doing that at the moment. Don't fall into the trap of what they're doing, you don't have good examples there.'"

Apart from Mainoo, players like Casemiro, Marcus Rashford, and more have been accused of not showing enough effort on the pitch in recent times. The criticisms have intensified as a result of Manchester United's lackluster performances this season.
