“He keeps an eye on the other players’ plates” - Alex Telles explains how Al-Nassr stars were ‘afraid’ due to Cristiano Ronaldo methods
In a recent interview, Alex Telles shared how his former Al-Nassr teammates behaved with their diets around Cristiano Ronaldo. He said that they initially used to be afraid to go for desserts because of the veteran's fitness.
Ronaldo is known for his fitness and lifestyle, which have kept him playing at the highest level for around two decades now. He's still going strong at 39 years old and looks set to continue for a while as well. His discipline, diet, and healthy choices have been talked about over the years.
Alex Telles has now shared how Cristiano Ronaldo's diet affected the other Al-Nassr players, telling Globo Esporte (via talkSport):
"He has his own meal. The food is different, the nutritionist arrives with the plate already served. What does he eat? Natural things, salmon, quinoa, avocado… Then he keeps an eye on the other players' plates, in a healthy joke."
He added:
"At first, the guys were afraid to go for dessert, we know how fit he is, how he likes to take care of himself, and everyone likes to follow good examples."
Telles also said:
"He eats a protein after lunch, after 15 days there were about 20 proteins on the table, everyone asked the nutritionist for them, to see if there was some magic in there…"
Alex Telles and Cristiano Ronaldo shared the pitch 55 times for Manchester United and Al-Nassr. Telles then left the Saudi Arabian side earlier this summer and joined Botafogo.
Rio Ferdinand makes bold claim about Al-Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo's potential retirement
With Cristiano Ronaldo entering his twilight years, there has been plenty of speculation about when he will retire. Many thought it would be after the UEFA Euro 2024 with Portugal where they were eliminated in the quarter-finals by France on penalties.
However, he's continued and recently scored two winning goals against Croatia and Scotland in the UEFA Nations League. He became the first male player to reach the 900-goal mark in doing so. Last month, Ronaldo's former Manchester United teammate Rio Ferdinand made a claim about the legendary forward, saying:
"I can't give too much away, but I've been doing a few bits with Cristiano behind the scenes, and he's playing as long as he wants. He ain't going nowhere, and I was godsmacked, and listen you'll see it in time, but minimum three years, I think, he plays for again."
Cristiano Ronaldo is on 901 goals now and will certainly be looking at the 1000-mark. He is likely to be in action next on Friday (September 20) when Al-Nassr take on Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League.
