"He'll just be disappointed" - Ex-Manchester United star on Cristiano Ronaldo's frustrated reaction after substitution in Euro 2024 loss to Georgia

Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown suggested that Cristiano Ronaldo was frustrated with himself in Portugal's 2-0 loss to Georgia at Euro 2024. The striker cut an angry figure throughout the game before eventually being subbed off in the second half on June 26.

On the Euro Thrash podcast, Brown was asked by the host about the Al-Nassr superstar's antics:

"Your mate Cristiano was playing, and he was raging. What was happening with him?"

Brown answered:

"That's normal. He's come off, he wants to score. I've said this in previous ones. His attitude's so good."
"People might think he's snapping at other people but he's not. He's just wounded he's not scored before he's come off. He probably knew he was coming off after a certain amount of time by the way, and he'll just be disappointed he's not contributed or got an assist or a goal."

It has been an exasperating group stage for the 39-year-old who failed to find the back of the net in any of the Selecao's three group stage fixtures. Despite that, Roberto Martinez's side finished on top of Group F, with wins over Czechia and Turkey helping the side bag six points.

Portugal will be hoping that Ronaldo will find his goalscoring touch in the knockout stages. They begin their campaign with a Round of 16 clash against Slovenia on July 1.

Portugal defender Pepe was full of praise for superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. Ahead of the side's Round of 16 clash against Slovenia, the centre-back suggested that his availability at his age was something to admire.

He said (via ESPN):

"Cristiano lives of goals, that's a fact. But have you seen his availability on the pitch to help the national team? It's incredible. He's the player with the most minutes in our team, at 39 years old."

The legendary forward started in all three of Portugal's group-stage fixtures. Alongside the 41-year-old Pepe, the two are the Selecao's most experienced players on the pitch.

Ronaldo will be hoping to get back in the goals at Euro 2024 starting with the knockouts. He notably finished as the Golden Boot winner in the previous edition of the tournament with five goals.
