“He looks bit more happy in himself” - Phil Bardsley shares observation about Manchester United star who shined alongside Amad Diallo in win over PAOK

Former Manchester United full-back Phil Bardsley has spoken highly of Casemiro after his impressive performance in the 2-0 win over PAOK on Thursday, November 7. The Red Devils picked up their first Europa League win of the season, courtesy of an Amad Diallo brace.

The Ivorian forward started a game for the first time in over a month and reminded everyone of his qualities. He scored his first in the 50th minute, heading in a Bruno Fernandes cross to send Manchester United 1-0 up at Old Trafford.

His second was a work of art. Stealing the ball from PAOK left-back Baba Rahman, the 22-year-old cut inside and unleashed a strike into the far corner. Although Diallo deservedly received high praise for his performance after the game, Bardsley was impressed with Casemiro as well.

Speaking on MUTV, the former Scotland international pointed out that the 32-year-old Brazilian looks back to his best.

“Casemiro, to be fair, looks over the last couple of games, is looking like his former self. He looks a lot sharper in his all round play. He looks bit more happy in himself, if being brutally honest," said Bardsley.
“And it’s great to see, because, you know, players like that with great experience. We’ve got so many young players in around the squad, and it can help nurture them and help them. So it’s important. He’ll be a big player for us for the remainder of season,” he added.

Casemiro's contract with Manchester United expires in 2026.

Casemiro has appeared 15 times across competitions this season despite Manchester United signing Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) this summer.

The two started together against PAOK and comfortably controlled the midfield. The Brazilian was particularly impressive and played for the entire 90 minutes.

With the Uruguayan holding fort, Casemiro ventured forward on every occasion. He created two goalscoring chances and also registered two shots, both off-target.

The Brazilian had 75 touches in the game, but surprisingly, didn't have to make a single tackle. He had one interception and one block and won both aerial duels.

With Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim set to take charge as Manchester United head coach on November 11, there is doubt regarding Casemiro's future. However, if the former Real Madrid star continues to hold his current form, the Portuguese could be tempted to have him around at Old Trafford.
