"He has made a few mistakes" - Chelsea legend reveals stance on Todd Boehly after new owner's recent comments

William Gallas has claimed that Todd Boehly has made a few mistakes at Chelsea. However, he is confident that the squad is slowly falling into place and can get back up soon.

Speaking to Genting Casino, Gallas claimed that the squad rebuild was done a bit too quickly at Chelsea. He stated that the speaning was a bit overboard and said:

"In the 2022/23 season, finishing 12th meant they didn't qualify for the Champions League, and now they haven't either this season, all while spending a lot of money. Even with this improvement, I still think he has not done as well as he should have and I feel he has made a few mistakes."

He added:

"He was not patient when he took over the club - he changed too many things at the same time. He spent a billion pounds on new players and he has slipped out of the Champions League, winning nothing."

The Blues have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Willian Estevao next summer. The Brazilian is set to join for reportedly €34 million with another €23 million in add-ons as per The Athletic.

Todd Boehly calls for patience from Chelsea fans

Todd Boehly was talking at the Qatar Economic Forum earlier this month and stated that the Chelsea project was heading in the right direction. He claimed that the need right now is a little patience from the fans and said:

"The number one thing is you have got to be patient. You are putting something together and expecting it to come together really quickly, but the reality is anything really good takes a little bit time. Patience was always a thought for us, when we bought the Dodgers in 2013 we started 15 and 25, but we kind of just kept sticking to the plan because we believed that it was right. And we went through a similar thing with Chelsea, you have to have the resolve to not hear all the noise around you and remain committed to the plan. And since Boxing Day, we are the fourth best team in the Premier League, when you look at what is going on it now feels better and better."

Chelsea have a chance to finish 5th in the Premier League on the final day of the season. The Blues need to beat Bournemouth and hope that Sheffield United beat Tottenham.
