"He would make us a better team" - Newcastle star wants £65million rated Arsenal target to join the Magpies amid transfer links
Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon wants his England teammate Marc Guehi to join him at St. James’ Park this summer. Guehi has been a solid presence at the back for Crystal Palace since joining the south London club in the summer of 2021.
The Chelsea academy graduate made 29 appearances across competitions last season, helping the Eagles keep eight clean sheets and finish seventh in the Premier League. He is now making his presence felt at the ongoing Euro 2024, where he helped England keep a clean sheet in their opening game of the tournament against Serbia.
Replacing the injured Harry Maguire in the squad, Guehi made an impressive major tournament debut on Sunday as England beat Serbia 1-0 in Gelsenkirchen. With his stock continually on the rise, the 23-year-old has been linked with a big-money transfer this summer, with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United among his reported suitors.
Praising his England colleague’s impact in the win against Serbia, Gordon told talkSPORT (via the Mirror):
“He is top. He's such a good player. I was glad the nation got to see him shine on that stage because he is such a lovely guy, and he deserves what is coming to him.
“I thought he was unbelievable in that game, considering his height compared to the strikers they had on. He won every header, he was aggressive, intercepting loads, and his main strength is his composure on the ball, he's like a midfielder, so him and Stones at the back is a great partnership.
“I haven't seen the Newcastle links, but it goes without saying I would love him to come, as I think he's a top, top player and he would make us a better team.”
Arsenal want to sign Real Madrid star - Reports
Arsenal are reportedly looking to sign Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin this summer. According to Sport, the Gunners are ready to offer £25 million for the Ukrainian custodian.
Lunin enjoyed an impressive campaign with Los Blancos last season. With Thibaut Courtois out injured for most of the season, Lunin stepped in between the posts and helped his side clinch La Liga and the Champions League.
However, Courtois will continue as the first-choice next season, and Lunin might find regular minutes hard to come by. Hence, a move to the Premier League may tempt the 25-year-old.
Arsenal are likely to part ways with Aaron Ramsdale this summer, and are considering signing Lunin as replacement.
