“He might have only one more game in the tournament” - Michael Owen picks Euro 2024 Golden Boot winner ahead of quarter-finals

With the UEFA Euro 2024 set to feature a series of crucial knockout fixtures, former England star Michael Owen has had his say on the tournament's Golden Boot race. According to Owen, Germany's Jamal Musiala is the frontrunner at the moment and could potentially win the award at Euro 2024.

"The Golden Boot race is still really open, isn’t it? You can’t rule anyone out -even someone like Kylian Mbappe can easily score three or four goals between now and the end of the tournament."

The Golden Boot race is in a deadlock at the moment, with Jamal Musiala and Cody Gakpo leading the charts with three goals. With as many as seven players tied on two goals at the moment, the standings could sway drastically by the end of the tournament.

"Everybody still has a chance. If I had to pick one player, Musiala is playing exceptionally well, he’s already scored three goals. But Germany have got a difficult game against Spain, and he might have only one more game in the tournament."

Germany have emerged as one of the favourites to win UEFA Euro 2024 and have an impressive young squad at their disposal. Die Mannschaft have a potentially daunting quarterfinal clash against Spain this week and will need their best players to step up to the plate.

Michael Owen has also acknowledged that the Golden Boot race remains open at the moment. Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham have scored two goals apiece for England and could shoot ahead in the race with a couple of excellent performances.

"If I had to pick a player, maybe Musiala, but it’s still wide open. Even Harry Kane - he could easily win it. It doesn't look like the Golden Boot winner will have a lot of goals to his name this year."
"Before the tournament, Musiala was one of the players I was looking forward to watching the most. I think he’s exceptional - really talented and confident, and he's playing for the host nation."

The former striker and Ballon d'Or winner heaped praise on Jamal Musiala and has backed the Bayern Munich man to do well in front of his home crowd. Musiala has been one of Germany's best players so far and could potentially lead his team to glory at UEFA Euro 2024.
