"He was never lenient when taking a free kick or penalty" - Keylor Navas lifts lid on Cristiano Ronaldo attitude in Real Madrid training
Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas has shared that during his time at the Bernabeu, Cristiano Ronaldo always tried his best while taking set pieces in training. Navas played for Real Madrid between August 2014 and September 2019.
He shared the dressing room with Ronaldo for four years until the Portuguese superstar left Real Madrid to join Juventus in July 2018.
Recalling the time, Navas claimed Ronaldo was always serious about his performance in training. The Costa Rican added that the Los Blancos legend never smiled after missing a penalty or a free-kick in the training sessions.
"I remember in training that Cristiano Ronaldo was never lenient when taking a free-kick or a penalty kick. If he took a free kick or a penalty kick he didn't score, he didn't smile or joke about it when it happened. He always wanted to win, but after we smiled," he said (via MadridXtra).
Ronaldo left Real Madrid as their highest goalscorer in history with 451 strikes. He helped the club win two LaLiga titles and four UEFA Champions League trophies among other honors.
Navas was also a crucial player for Los Blancos when they won the Champions League thrice in a row between 2015-16 to 2017-18. He made 162 appearances across competitions for the Spanish giants, conceding 152 goals and keeping 52 clean sheets. Navas joined Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in 2019 but he's been without a club since July 2024.
