"He is a player who has stood out with his performances" - Rivaldo urges Barcelona to sign Euro 2024 star this summer

Barcelona icon Rivaldo has urged his former club to go all out and sign Spanish sensation Nico Williams. This comes in the wake of the player's stellar performances at the ongoing Euro 2024 tournament.

Williams have so far been one of the stand-out players at the competition, judging by his performance with the Spanish national team. He has so far scored one goal and contributed one assist for La Furia Roja.

Barcelona are one of the clubs that are currently believed to be showing interest in signing the Athletic Bilbao winger, who has a release clause of €58 million. Club icon and Ballon d'Or winner Rivaldo has urged Barca to take advantage of such an opportunity by signing Williams this summer.

While urging Barcelona to sign the 22-year-old winger, he said (via SPORT):

"Given the cost of his release clause and everything he has been doing, I think it is a very reasonable value.

He continued:

"He is a player who has stood out with his performances at Athletic Club this season and now he is doing incredibly well with Spain at the European Championship.”

Rivaldo concluded by stating that Williams does possess all the required qualities to succeed at a big club like Barcelona and said:

"He has everything to succeed at FC Barcelona, the club has to consider him,”

Barcelona target responds to rumors surrounding his future

It's no secret that Spanish winger Nico Williams is currently attracting interest from a host of top clubs following his dazzling form at the ongoing Euro 2024 tournament. The 22-year-old forward has been in scintillating form on the wings for Spain, as they aim to clinch their third European title after winning it in 2008 and 2012.

As expected, clubs are beginning to look at a possible transfer for the winger, who has a release clause of €58 million. When asked about how he feels being linked with a number of top clubs, such as Barca and Chelsea, Williams said (via Metro):

"Everything that comes from outside is good, it means I’m doing my job well. Every kid dreams of being noticed by big clubs. I’m focused on doing well at the European Championship and whatever comes after that I’ll find out because these days I’m totally disconnected."

It will be interesting to see if a move away from Athletic Bilbao will eventually materialize this summer amid interest from a host of top clubs in Europe.
