“He was promised a lot before he signed” - Youssoufa Moukoko’s agent hits out at Borussia Dortmund; warns club over selling him
Youssoufa Moukoko's agent Patrick Williams has slammed Borussia Dortmund over their handling of the young striker. Williams also warned Dortmund that selling Moukoko would be a mistake.
Moukoko grabbed headlines with his exploits for Dortmund's under-19 team at the age of 14. He broke into the first team three years ago but has failed to make a significant impact. Moukoko has so far scored 18 goals in 99 appearances for the Bundesliga giants, making 25 starts.
The young striker's agent has publicly stated that his client is looking for a new destination. Williams told transfer expert Fabrizio Romano (via GOAL):
"Youssoufa has a huge potential, which unfortunately he couldn't show last season. He was promised a lot before he signed, but it wasn't realized. He was always only interested in playing and in his development - not anything else like the media reports always claimed."
Williams added:
"I say BVB is making a mistake in giving Youssoufa away. With so little playing time, everyone will know that Youssoufa's market value will be low and Dortmund can't expect much."
He concluded:
"We wanted it to be different but that's football business. Youssoufa is totally clear in his mind, extremely focused and knows what he wants to drive his career forward."
Borussia Dortmund have acquired Serhou Guirassy from Stuttgart this summer and they also have Niclas Fullkrug in their ranks. Hence, the chances of Youssoufa Moukoko getting regular game-time in the upcoming season seem bleak.

Youssoufa Moukoko's desire to leave Borussia Dortmund is clear and the youngster could potentially end up at Barcelona if he leaves the club. The Catalan club have previously been linked with Moukoko.
