“He’s got everything” - Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand heaps praises on Chelsea star Cole Palmer after standout Brighton display
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has lavished praise on Chelsea stalwart Cole Palmer. The English midfielder recently made news by scoring all four goals in the Blues' 4-2 win over Brighton & Hove Albion on September 28.
Palmer rose through the ranks at Manchester City but failed to establish himself in the starting XI at the Etihad. He made the move to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2023 and hasn't looked back since.
On Rio Ferdinand Presents, the former Manchester United defender insisted that he would pay to watch Cole Palmer over all other young English talents.
“Palmer is top. I’m paying to watch Palmer over all of the young English players right now because what he does… He’s got everything,” said Ferdinand.
The 22-year-old registered 27 goals and set up 15 more from 48 games across competitions for Chelsea last season. He has already racked in six goals and four assists from eight games across competitions this campaign.
The Blues have invested heavily in younger players in recent transfer windows and have some of the best talents in the land at their disposal. However, there's no doubt that the Englishman remains their most important player at the moment.
Manchester United could look to sign Chelsea's Cole Palmer who was a Red Devils fan
Cole Palmer scored a hattrick against Manchester United in April this year in Chelsea's 4-3 win in the Premier League league. After the game, the Englishman admitted that he was a Red Devils fan while growing up, as per Manchester Evening News.
Manchester United missed out on the player as he joined their rivals as an eight-year-old. While it is a case of what could have been, the Red Devils could make amends by breaking the bank for the Englishman in the future.
Manchester United have already assembled a backbone of youth in their ranks. Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Hojlund, Amad Diallo, and Leny Yoro are just some of the young talents at their disposal. Palmer could be the cherry on the cake.
With Bruno Fernandes already on the wrong side of 30, the Englishman could even end up being the Portuguese's successor at Old Trafford. However, Chelsea won't be willing to let him go easily, especially to a Premier League rival.
The Blues are already working to get back to their best under Enzo Maresca. The Italian tactician has had a mixed start to his tenure with the London giants, but Cole Palmer has been one of the bright spots once again. The Chelsea No. 20 is under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2033, so prising him away won't be easy.
