"He's helping me a lot with my game" - Chelsea star hails Enzo Maresca's impact following summer appointment
Chelsea forward Noni Madueke has praised new manager Enzo Maresca, saying the Italian has been "helping" him a lot with his game. The Blues drew their last game before the international break as their match against Crystal Palace ended 1-1 at home.
The west London club had a sedate start to the new campaign. They lost their first game against Manchester City 2-0. However, they bounced back and how in their second game against the Wolverhampton Wanderers, beating them 6-2 away.
Noni Madueke scored his first-ever hat trick in their game against Wolves and also received his maiden call to join the England team this month. Be that as it may, the club has seen several changes in the last few weeks.
Madueke, however, stated that the atmosphere has been good and also praised Maresca for bringing out the best in him. Here's what he told talkSPORT:
"Of course, in the building, it’s a great place to be, to be around. But of course, there’s a lot of things going on with all the signings, the turnover and stuff. But as a football player, your job is to perform on the pitch.
"He’s a great guy, very good manager, great tactician. He’s helping me a lot with my game, and little details. Things that you wouldn’t necessarily think of yourself. I always feel like a great manager will say ‘this will help you score more, this can help you get in behind more’, stuff like that. Little things like that really help.
Chelsea will take on Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on September 14 after the international break.
Chelsea name their 27-man squad for the Europa Conference League
The Blues qualified for the UEFA Europa Conference League after beating Servette 3-2 over two legs in the play-off round. They've been drawn against Gent, Panathinaikos, Noah, Heidenheim, Astana, and Shamrock Rovers in the league stage.
They announced their 27-man squad for the league stage of the competition on Thursday, September 5. Pedro Neto, Mykhailo Mudryk, Joao Felix, Marc Guiu, Noni Madueke, Christopher Nkunku, Jadon Sancho, Reece James, and Malo Gusto are among the players who have been included.
However, Cole Palmer, Romeo Lavia, and Wesley Fofana have been left out by Maresca reportedly due to workload management.
Chelsea's Europa Conference League campaign begins on October 3 when they take on Gent at Stamford Bridge.
