"He’s a player that even Jurgen Klopp would have liked" - John Barnes believes ex-Everton star 'would be great' at Liverpool

Liverpool great John Barnes has urged the club to sign Newcastle United attacker Anthony Gordon. Barnes thinks the Englishman will be a good addition to the Reds' squad.

Barnes told Betting Expert that he thought Gordon was a player who Jurgen Klopp would have loved in the squad. He said:

"We like local players and he's not only English but he's a Scouser. He's got energy and lots of pace, he's very dynamic and he's a player that even Jurgen Klopp would have liked. If Arne Slot is looking at Gordon as an option he would be great at L'pool. The interest in Gordon is leading me to believe L'pool are going to be a very intense, driven and high pressing team."

The Reds were offered the chance to sign Gordon earlier this summer, but they rejected the swap deal proposed by Newcastle. The Magpies wanted Jarell Quansah in return but the Reds did not want to part ways with the defender.

Anthony Gordon backed to replace Mohamed Salah at Liverpool by Didi Hamann

Former Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann backed Anthony Gordon to replace Mohamed Salah at Liverpool in a conversation with Top Offshore Casinos (via Mirror). He believes that the Newcastle United star has shown he has what it takes to succeed at this level. He said:

"No one really knew what to expect when Liverpool signed Mohamed Salah, on the other hand, we've seen Anthony Gordon have a huge impact in the Premier League. He did so at Everton even when they were struggling and after a tough start at Newcastle he has battled through and he's one of their best players now.
"I read somewhere that Liverpool is his boyhood club and I think it would be a brilliant signing, it also looks like Newcastle might need to sell some players this summer too. So Gordon would be great."

Newcastle United have reportedly put an £85 million price tag on Anthony Gordon.
