“He’s pretty famous I guess” – Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard names most famous person in his phone contacts
Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has named former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane as the most famous contact in his phone. The Norway international played under Zidane during his brief spell in Spain.
Odegaard, along with a few other Premier League stars, featured in a video on Premier League's YouTube channel where they were asked random questions. One of the question thrown to Enzo Fernandez, Jack Grealish and Odegaard was to name the most famous person on their phone.
The Arsenal midfielder captain (via Madrid Xtra on X):
“Zinedine Zidane from Madrid. He was my coach. He’s pretty famous, I guess (laughs).”
Martin Odegaard made headlines when he arrived at Real Madrid in 2015 as a teenager from Stromgodset in Norway. The prodigy, though, got few opportunities in the Madrid first team and got sent on loan spells to Heerenveen, Vitesse Real Sociedad and Arsenal.
Odegaard played under Zidane at Real Madrid and Real Madrid Castilla in 32 games, with most of them coming with Castilla. The Norwegian played 10 times in the Real Madrid first team under Zidane but didn't make a goal contribution.
Martin Odegaard joined Arsenal on a permanent deal in the summer of 2021 for a fee of £30 million following a successful six-month loan spell. He was appointed the club captain the next year ahead of the 2022-23 season and guided the Gunners to a second-placed Premier League finish.
How has Martin Odegaard performed for Arsenal this season?
Martin Odegaard has once again been one of the Gunners' key players as they look to mount another title challenge this season. Mikel Arteta's side are second in the standings, having picked up 20 points from eight games trailing leaders Tottenham Hotspur on goals scored.
Odegaard has started all eight league games for the Gunners, contributing three goals and an assist. This includes a goal and an assist in the 4-0 win over Bournemouth last month. He has played the full 90 minutes in six league outings this term.
Martin Odegaard's other goal for the Gunners this season has come in the UEFA Champions League in the 4-0 home win over PSV Eindhoven.
