"He was showing all of those emotions" - Alan Shearer names England star who was unhappy with Gareth Southgate during Euro 2024 final

Alan Shearer has claimed that England star Jude Bellingham wasn't happy with manager Gareth Southgate due to his positioning in the Euro 2024 final. He said that the Real Madrid man was looking for guidance and showing emotions.

The Three Lions lost 2-1 against Spain in the Euro 2024 final at Olympiastadion Berlin on Sunday, July 14. Bellingham played the entire game but and provided the assist for Cole Palmer's goal. However, his overall performance left a lot to be desired.

Manager Gareth Southgate put Bellingham on the left side of midfield for the game and Alan Shearer believes the youngster wasn't happy with it. He said on The Rest Is Football podcast (via Caught Offside):

"Bellingham wasn’t happy. He was stuck on the left again. You could tell he wasn’t happy at all. He had a disappointed look about him, his arms were up, he was looking towards the bench for guidance. He could see things weren’t going well and he wasn’t happy with the lack of press and everything else."

He added:

"He was showing all of those emotions. I could see it, I was looking at him all the time. He was showing it to the bench. He’s not a left midfielder is he so I sort of understood his emotions. I was really surprised Gareth Southgate went back to four at the back."

Bellingham was far from his best in the tournament but still scored two crucial goals and provided one assist for England at Euro 2024.

Spain dominate England in Euro 2024 final to lift their 4th Euros trophy

Spain were the heavy favorites coming into the Euro 2024 final on Sunday. They were arguably the best team in the tournament, having won every game they played in. They beat Croatia, Italy, Germany, and France en route to the final.

La Roja showed their dominance in the final as well, managing 66% possession and 6/16 attempts on target. England, meanwhile, could only manage 4/9 attempts on target.

After a goalless first half, Spain opened the scoring in the 47th minute through a neat finish from Nico Williams. He got on the end of Lamine Yamal's pass and slotted in home past Jordan Pickford. Substitute Cole Palmer equalised in the 73rd minute with a well-placed shot from just outside the box via a Jude Bellingham layoff.

Mikel Oyarzabal then finished off an excellent move from Spain, getting on the end of a low cross from Marc Cucurella. England came close to scoring but Dani Olmo made a goalline clearance to secure the Euro 2024 win for his side.
