"He is an upgrade" - Tim Sherwood names Premier League star Arsenal should sign to win the title
Tim Sherwood has claimed that Arsenal need to sign Alexander Isak to win the Premier League title. He believes that the Newcastle United forward is the missing piece in the puzzle at the Emirates.
Speaking on the Seaman Says Podcast, Sherwood stated that Isak will be the perfect player for Mikel Arteta's side. Having joined Newcastle in 2022, the 25-year-old has scored 38 goals and provided six assists in 76 appearances across competitions.
Sherwood further added that the Newcastle United star might not be looking to leave but has urged the Gunners to take a shot and try to sign him. He said (via Yahoo Sports):
"Do you know what worries me about you playing Newcastle? Someone might be rehearsing in front of Mikel, Isak. He's perfect for you. He can play down the left, he can go down the middle, he's an absolute perfect Arsenal player. He might be saying 'if you're looking, I'm here'. Not that he wants to leave Newcastle, but I would suggest he is an upgrade if you want to challenge for the title."
The Gunners are up against Newcastle United this weekend in the Premier League. The two sides face off in the opening match on Saturday (November 2) at St James' Park.
Pundit wants Arsenal to sign Newcastle United star
Jermaine Pennant has also urged Arsenal to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United. The former Gunners striker feels that the Swede is perfect for Mikel Arteta's side and will work well with the players at the club.
He said at the launch of Ladbrokes' "Gaffer of all Accas" (via TBR Football):
"What I'd suggest is a number nine; a good, solid number nine. There aren't many out there at the moment, but Alexander Isak is someone who I think would fit perfectly. He's quick, he's strong, and he's proven he can score goals in this division… I'm sure he would get a lot more, playing for a team like Arsenal, who create so many chances."
"They've got a lot of defensive players now; that was their weak point over the years, but they've almost got an overflow of top defenders, and defensive players, now. Jorginho, Declan Rice and Thomas Partey can all play in the same position, and they've got so much cover at the back. I think it's just in the attacking areas which is where they should look to strengthen again."
Arsenal currently have Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus as their options up front. Both players have not managed to match Isak's numbers and the Swede is stuck in contract talks with the Magpies.
