"He wants to bring joy to the players" - Bruno Fernandes sends message to Van Nistelrooy after Manchester United's 3-0 Leicester win

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes praised departing interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy for his impact after his final game in charge. The Dutch manager stepped in following the dismissal of Erik ten Hag, who was let go after a poor start to the season.

Van Nistelrooy represented the club in his playing career. He joined the English club from PSV Eindhoven in 2001 and spent five years at the club before joining Real Madrid in 2006. He played 219 games and scored 150 goals to help the team win the Premier League and the FA Cup.

Speaking after the game, the Red Devils captain hailed the interim manager.

"We wanted to say goodbye as a manager for him properly because he did good things for us," Fernandes told BBC. "Ruud van Nistelrooy fills the club, he loves the club, he wants to bring joy to the players. He brought everyone with a smile to the games, he just wanted us to enjoy it."

Manchester United have hired Ruben Amorim from Sporting Club de Portugal. The Portuguese manager will hope to build on the fine form Van Nistelrooy has left in the locker room and help the Red Devils climb up the table from their current spot in 13th.

"He has so much experience and he advises us a lot" - Onana hopes Manchester United keeps Ruud van Nistelrooy at the club

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana said that he hopes the club keeps interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy at the club. The Dutch manager took the rings at the club after their poor start to the campaign and revitalized the squad during his brief stewardship at the helm.

The former Red Devils striker was impressive during his time in charge of the club. The team scored 11 goals in the four games he oversaw and conceded only three.

Speaking after his side beat PAOK 2-0 in the Europa League, Onana told TNT Sport:

"100 per cent. He's a very good guy, a very good coach. He has so much experience and he advises us a lot. It's fantastic what he's doing and the players are happy. But at the end of the day, it's not something we can decide. The club make the decision and we have to accept it."

Manchester United next faces Ipswich Town on Sunday, November 24 when club football resumes after the international break. The Red Devils will have Ruben Amorim in charge of the game and Ruud Van Nistelrooy will hope he is part of the setup under the new management.
