"He was so wasteful", "Easily the worst player tonight" - Real Madrid fans blast two players after loss to AC Milan

Real Madrid fans have criticized Lucas Vasquez and Dani Ceballos on X after they suffered a 1-0 loss to AC Milan in a pre-season friendly (Wednesday, July 31). Carlo Ancelotti fielded a relatively young starting XI, including the likes of Endrick, Arda Guler, Mario Martin, and Brahim Diaz. Nevertheless, they were still the favorites to defeat AC Milan after winning three trophies last season, including the LaLiga title and the UEFA Champions League.

However, AC Milan impressed at the Soldier Field, with Samuel Chukwueze's 55th-minute goal enough to give the Serie A outfit the win.

Lucas Vasquez was given the captain's armband but struggled to impress. He was dispossessed twice, failed to complete a cross from five attempts, and lost seven duels. Moreover, Dani Ceballos had some bright moments in the midfield but failed to convince the Real Madrid faithful.

One fan reacted by posting:

"Lucas Vasquez, easily the worst player tonight. An embarrassment to that Captain Armband. The most hyped Castilla player, Nico paz looks like the most overhyped and then Lunin doing his best to reduce his price tag. Arda, Ceballos, Fran, Courtois, Brahim being the standouts."

Another fan tweeted:

"What was Vasquez actually trying to do? He was so wasteful tbh"

Other reactions can be viewed below:

"Ceballos game is bit concerning," one fan typed.
"Ceballos tried kroos' diagonal pass many times but never reached the target," one fan pointed out.
"Can Dani Ceballos start going on loan already?? I have seen enough," another added.
"As per typical Real Madrid, they struggle in pre season. Will improve no doubt," one fan remained optimistic.
"Glad to see them lose, this will motivate them to work better against Barca," another chimed in.

"The evaluation is positive" - Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti gives his verdict on their performance following 1-0 loss to AC Milan

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has praised his youngsters for the fight they put up in their pre-season friendly clash against AC Milan, despite losing 1-0.

During the post-match press conference, Ancelotti said (via Managing Madrid):

“We competed, we fought, we did good things. The first game, with a lot of young players, the important thing was to compete. We had some good moments, others that need to be improved. It is quite normal. The evaluation is positive, it is a dream for the youth players to play this match."

He added:

"We have managed better with the veterans, but now they should not play more than 45 minutes. Now we have to prepare for another match. We have two more. The Brazilians are back, let’s see if they can play something in the Clásico. This is what these matches are for. Those who arrived on the 15th are already in good condition.”

AC Milan had more possession than Real Madrid with 52 percent of the ball, and also landed 11 shots in total with four on target, missing seven big chances. They also completed 461 passes with an accuracy of 90 percent.

Meanwhile, Los Blancos had 48 percent possession, mustering eight shots with two being on target, missing two big chances in the process. They also completed 421 passes with an accuracy of 89 percent.

Real Madrid will seek to bounce back in their next fixture against Barcelona on Saturday, August 3.
