"He will not shine" - Nigerian church leader urges Victor Osimhen to not join Chelsea this summer
A Nigerian church leader known as Primate Elijah Ayodele has issued a stern warning to Victor Osimhen not to join Chelsea. In a striking message, the prophet cautioned that Osimhen’s move to Stamford Bridge would bring about a downturn in his career.
Victor Osimhen has been linked with a move to Chelsea and some other European heavyweights for several months. However, it seemed like the west London club pulled off momentarily from the race due to being unable to pay his release clause. But after seeing their pursuit of Atletico Madrid’s Samu Omorodion fall through, they seemed to have turned their attention back to Osimhen.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian prophet believes the Napoli striker’s career will take a nosedive if he joins the west London club. His message was direct and unambiguous, urging the Nigerian forward to reconsider any potential move to Stamford Bridge during the current transfer window. He said on his X account (via ESPN Africa):
“I want to quickly advise as directed that Osimhen should not go to Chelsea because if he goes there, he will not shine and it will kill his career. NFF, if Osimhen should go to Chelsea, don’t call him again, and also calling him to the Super Eagles still needs to be reviewed properly because we have what it takes to the World Cup and Nations Cup.”
Whether Osimhen will heed this advice remains to be seen, but the prophecy has certainly added a spiritual dimension to the ongoing transfer saga.
Chelsea are close to signing Victor Osimhen in a swap deal – Reports
Chelsea are reportedly closing in on Victor Osimhen after a summer of speculation and are looking to tie up a player-swap deal. As per The Sun, new Napoli boss Antonio Conte wants out-of-favor Romelu Lukaku and promising 21-year-old midfielder Cesare Casadei plus a further £39 million to seal the transfer.
Both Victor Osimhen and Romelu Lukaku had explicitly expressed their desire to leave their respective clubs. Conte is eager to reunite with Lukaku, having previously worked with him at Inter Milan. The Belgian striker has been banned from the first team at Stamford Bridge while his future is in the air. Enzo Maresca is also interested in Osimhen after failing to sign Samu Omorodion.
However, the swap agreement would result in a catastrophic loss for the Blues, as they would receive £46 million for two players who cost them a total of £114.5 million over the last three years. Victor Osimhen joined Napoli in 2020, and he has scored 76 goals across competitions for the Italian giants.
