“His style of play, his idea is always the same” - Liverpool boss Arne Slot says ‘it’s not that difficult’ to form game plan for Aston Villa
Liverpool manager Arne Slot previewed their upcoming Premier League clash against Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday, November 9. In his pre-match conference, Slot talked about how Villa manager Unai Emery is consistent with his tactics and thus forming a game plan would be straightforward.
Liverpool will welcome Aston Villa to Anfield, hoping to extend their lead at the top of the table. The Reds currently have 25 points after 10 games, two more than second-placed Manchester City.
Ahead of the match, Arne Slot gave his assessment of Unai Emery's style of play, saying:
"If you ask me now, I say it is not that difficult [to form gameplan]. Emery has almost the same formation but sometimes depend on the players. His style of play, his idea is always the same. Saying this, that was the same with Xabi Alonso but never once he came up with Boniface as a left winger and no No.9.
"Maybe that's a compliment? Most managers think we have a good team so they change gameplan. I don't expect Unai to change a lot but in terms of personnel he can change a bit like you said. Always 4-4-2 he's played for many years now."
Why Liverpool vs. Aston Villa is a late Saturday kick-off
Four Premier League matches on Saturday, November 9, will kick-off at 3pm local time. Brighton and Hove Albion and Manchester City will then lock horns at the Amex Stadium at 5.30pm.
Following that, Liverpool will welcome Aston Villa in a late kick-off, scheduled for 8pm local time. This is quite unusual for a Premier League fixture played on Saturday.
The game was scheduled for a late kick-off as Unai Emery’s men played in the UEFA Champions League away on Wednesday. Ahead of the 2021/22 season, it was agreed that clubs that played in the Champions League on Wednesday would not be scheduled for an early kickoff the following Saturday.
The Premier League fixtures for this weekend will be the last before the November international break.
