“Hope that the final will be fair” - Cristiano Ronaldo sends message ahead of King’s Cup final after breaking record in last league game

Al-Nassr superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has sent a message ahead of the King Cup of Champions final against Al-Hilal on Friday (May 31). The Portuguese icon addressed the media after the 4-2 win against Al-Ittihad on Monday (May 27).

Ronaldo scored twice against Al-Ittihad. His first came in the injury time (45+3') in the first half with a left-footed strike. Ronaldo scored a thunderous header (69') for his second.

He finished the Saudi Pro League season with 35 goals and 11 assists in 31 games, a competition record. However, Al-Alami have an important cup final coming up against Al-Hilal. Addressing the upcoming game, Ronaldo said (via Al Nassr Zone on X):

"Our next goal is the King Cup. The team will give everything it has in the final. We wait and hope that the final will be fair."

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace when Al-Nassr beat Al-Hilal in the Arab Cup of Champions final on August 12, 2023. However, that was a pre-season trophy. Ronaldo will aim for his first official trophy when the Knights of Najd play Al-Hilal on Friday.

Records continue to stack up for Cristiano Ronaldo. He has become the first player to win the golden boot in four different leagues.

Ronaldo won the La Liga Golden Boot thrice. He won the prize once in the Premier League and once in Serie A. He has now won it in the Saudi Pro League. His 35-goal is also a competition record. Ronaldo surpassed Aberrazak Hamdallah's mark of 34. Addressing the new records, Ronaldo wrote on social media:

"I don't follow records, records follow me."

Al-Nassr, meanwhile, finished the Saudi Pro League season in second place, behind Al-Hilal. Luis castro's team will once again lock horns with their Riyadh rivals. There will be a cup on the line in the final.

Ronaldo has already scored 44 goals and 13 assists in as many appearances this season across competitions. Whether he can inspire the team to a trophy remains to be seen.
