"Hopefully one day I can return" - Barcelona star wants to go back to his former club in the future

Barcelona star Ferran Torres expressed his desire to make a return to Valencia in the future. Torres used to play for the club as a youngster before his move to Premier League side Manchester City.

He made 97 appearances for Valencia, scoring nine goals and providing 12 assists. Speaking about his former club, the winger recently told A Punt Esports:

“Doors never close for me, so hopefully one day I can return to Valencia.”

After his stint with Valencia, Torres played for Manchester City. He made 43 appearances for the Cityzens, scoring 16 goals and providing four assists.

Torres' bright form in England made Barcelona pursue a move for him in the 2022 January transfer window. Since his transfer to the Catalan club, Torres has made 67 appearances, scoring 14 goals and providing eight assists.

The 23-year-old has scored seven goals and has provided two assists in 41 appearances for Xavi's side so far this season.

Barcelona has been linked with a move for Manchester City midfielder

Barcelona won't be able to add new players to their ranks unless they offload €200 million from their current wage bill. The Blaugrana, however, are keen to sign Manchester City's Ilkay Gundogan as a free agent.

The German international, who has scored seven goals and has provided five assists in 45 matches across competitions this season, will see his contract run out this season.

City manager Pep Guardiola, however, is keen to extend Gundogan's stay. He recently said (via Fabrizio Romano):

“The club knows what I think. I’d like to work with Gundo in the future. The club is involved and ofcourse knows my opinion. They are above me, we take the decision together, good and bad.”

Adding a player of Gundogan's quality would be massive for Barca. However, whether they can abide by the FFP rules and complete a transfer remains to be seen.
