How much will Chelsea pay to sign Jadon Sancho on a permanent deal? Romano provides update as Manchester United star set for move
Manchester United and Chelsea have reportedly agreed on a loan deal with an obligation to buy for Jadon Sancho. According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea will pay £25 million to sign Jadon Sancho on a permanent deal next season.
Jadon Sancho came to Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 for a hefty price tag of £73 million. However, the winger couldn't live up to his potential at Manchester United, recording just 12 goals and six assists in his first two seasons at the club.
At the start of the 2023/24 season, Sancho had a public fallout with manager Erik ten Hag after the manager criticized the Englishman's intensity in training sessions. Ten Hag eventually froze Sancho out and he was sent on loan to Borussia Dortmund in January 2024.
Despite having a successful loan spell, Erik ten Hag preferred Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo over the Englishman in the new season's first two Premier League games. This caused speculation that Sancho might be looking for a way out.
At Chelsea, Jadon Sancho will join the likes of Pedro Neto, Joao Felix, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and Filip Jorgensen in another transfer window of significant spending.
The Blues will play Crystal Palace on Sunday (September 1) at Stamford Bridge. However, it is now too late to register Sancho on time for that game.
Manchester United interested in Chelsea's out-of-favor midfielder
Manchester United are interested in signing Chelsea's Carney Chukwuemeka, according to Sky Sports. The 20-year-old came to the west London club from Aston Villa in 2022.
Carney Chukwuemeka is among the players that the Blues have banished from first-team training. The 20-year-old made 12 appearances for the Blues last season, scoring two goals and recording a solitary assist before he was sidelined due to a knee injury.
Chukwuemeka could be a valuable addition to the Manchester United midfield, given his level of comfort on the ball and ability to carry it. His addition would also help the Red Devils rotate their squad in what is set to be a long season.
Ten Hag's side will face Arne Slot's Liverpool on Sunday (September 1) at Old Trafford. Erik ten Hag's side are currently 11th in the Premier League table with three points out of a possible six. The Red Devils will want to maximize their home advantage in the coming match and move up the table.
