"I can confirm that there's concrete interest" - Manchester United star Antony's agent shares update on January transfer
Manchester United attacker Antony's agent Junior Pedroso has shared an update about the Brazilian's future ahead of the January transfer window. The player's representative has revealed that his client is attracting concrete interest from multiple clubs.
It goes without mentioning that Antony has failed to cut it at Manchester United since arriving from Ajax in a deal reportedly worth €95 million back in August 2022. So far, he's bagged just 12 goals and five assists for the Red Devils in 92 games across all competitions.
Amid the struggles, the Brazilian has been linked with a departure from Old Trafford, with rumors hinting at a potential switch in the winter. Commenting on the subject, his agent Junior Pedroso has confirmed that the player is being monitored by suitors.
“Yes, many clubs have approached us for Antony’s move in January," he told GIVEMESPORT. "These clubs wanted to understand the situation for Antony, so I can confirm that there’s concrete interest."
When asked about Manchester United's position on the subject, Pedroso stated:
"To be fair, Manchester United have never expressed any interest to sell or loan out Antony to us. We never received this sort of communication so far. Man United management never told us that they want Antony to leave, despite the reports we see around about our client."
The agent further stressed that the ball is in Manchester United's court regarding the attacker's future.
“I can say that Antony’s future is very much tied to Manchester United's interests. If the club thinks it would be a good idea to loan Antony out in January so he can get more minutes and regain his trust, we will work together on that option. Otherwise, Antony is working hard to regain his place and show his best skills under the new coach Ruben Amorim.”
Antony has played 10 games for the Red Devils across all competitions so far this season, amassing 322 minutes of playing time and scoring once.
What is next for Manchester United?
After suffering back-to-back defeats against Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth in their last two games, United will be keen to bounce back to winning ways when they return to action in the English top flight this midweek.
Up next, the Red Devils will go head-to-head with Wolves at the Molineux Stadium today (December 26). Following that, they will square off againstNewcastle United next week on Monday before locking horns with Liverpool in what promises to be an epic clash at Anfield on January 5.
That said, it is worth noting that United have a rock to lift this season. Ruben Amorim's men currently sit at the 13th position in the Premier League table with 22 points in 17 games, having recorded just six wins so far.
