“I can’t take myself seriously in that environment” - Euro 2024 star Dani Olmo’s partner Laura Abla Schmitt on why she stays away from football talk
Spain attacker and Euro 2024 star Dani Olmo's partner, Laura Abla Schmitt, has opened up about why she doesn't produce football-related content on her social media. The German model is quite popular on platforms like TikTok and Instagram, where she posts pictures of herself in different outfits.
Schmitt has 162,000 followers on Instagram and even, on occasion, posts images with her boyfriend. Speaking about why she doesn't have much football content on her social media accounts, she said (via Daily Star):
"My reels are never about football, it's about me or my boyfriend. I don't say anything about football, that's not my place. I know far too little about that. I don't say anything about clubs, I don't do any analysis. I do it for myself, for entertainment."
"I can't take myself seriously in that environment. Everyone tells me: you're a player's wife. I don't see myself that way. I make fun of it."
Although Schmitt doesn't get too involved in football, she would certainly have been aware of Olmo's heroics in Spain's quarter-final encounter at Euro 2024. After coming on for the injured Pedri in the eighth minute, the RB Leipzig star produced a goal and assist to help Spain beat Germany 2-1 (July 5).
The midfielder will be expected to start in his country's upcoming semi-final in the competition against France on Tuesday (July 9). Pedri is missing this game as well due to injury.
