"I'd never rule out doing something at the club" - Former Real Madrid star Toni Kroos hints potential Los Blancos return in the future
Former Germany midfielder Toni Kroos has hinted at a potential return to Real Madrid in the future. Kroos retired from professional football after the 2024 European Championships.
He had joined the Santiago Bernabeu outfit from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in July 2014. The former midfielder was a crucial player for the LaLiga giants for a decade, making 465 appearances and bagging 28 goals and 99 assists across all competitions.
He won five UEFA Champions League, five FIFA Club World Cup, four LaLiga, and four UEFA Super Cup titles with Los Blancos.
During an episode of Einfach mal Luppen, a podcast that he hosts alongside his brother, Kroos stated that he could still return to the Spanish capital in some capacity. He said (via MadridXtra):
"Given my closeness with Real Madrid, the relationship with Madrid, I'd never rule out doing something at the club at some point in the future."
The 34-year-old helped Carlo Ancelotti's side win LaLiga and the UEFA Champions League in his last season. But he failed to guide Germany to European success as they went down 2-1 to eventual champions Spain in the quarterfinals.
Real Madrid suffer huge blow in pursuit of Bundesliga defender: Reports
Bayer Leverkusen are unwilling to let Jonathan Tah join Real Madrid in the winter transfer window, as per AS. Due to the injuries of Eder Militao and David Alaba, Real Madrid are forced to recruit new central defenders in the upcoming winter transfer window.
As per multiple reports, Aymeric Laporte and Jonathan Tah are Madrid's top transfer targets for the winter. Laporte joined Al-Nassr last summer, and his current contract with the Knights of Najd will expire in June 2026. As a result, Carlo Ancelotti's side would have to make a decent offer to sign the Spanish defender.
Meanwhile, Jonathan Tah's ongoing deal with Bayer Leverkusen will expire in the summer of 2025. As per the aforementioned report, the German champions would prefer letting Tah leave the side on a free transfer than selling him to Madrid in January. Bayern Munich and Barcelona are also interested in securing Tah's services on a free transfer.
