“I don’t care” - Cristiano Ronaldo responds when asked if he’s best player at Al-Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo is not bothered if he is the best player at Al-Nassr. The Portuguese superstar was on song again on Monday, September 30, as the Saudi side beat Al Rayyan 2-1 in the AFC Champions League.

Ronaldo has been part of conversations about the best player in the world ever since winning the Ballon d'Or with Manchester United in 2008. He moved to Real Madrid the following year and managed to take his game to a higher level.

With Barcelona legend Lionel Messi affording him no room for error, Cristiano Ronaldo became Los Blancos' record goalscorer. When he left the Santiago Bernabeu in 2018 to join Juventus, he had registered 450 goals from 438 games for the La Liga giants.

The Portuguese ace was arguably the best player at Juventus too, registering 101 goals in 134 games across competitions in his three seasons in Turin. A second stint at Manchester United didn't go according to plans before the five-time Ballon d'Or winner arrived at Al Nassr in December 2022.

Since then, Cristiano Ronaldo has been in the thick of things with the Saudi club. On Monday, he found the back of the net to take his tally for the season to seven goals in eight games in all competitions.

After the game, when asked if he's the best player at Al-Nassr, Ronaldo responded (via Al Nassr Zone):

“I don't care. The important thing is that the team looks good,” said Ronaldo.

Al-Nassr next will face Al-Orobah in the Saudi Pro League on Saturday, October 5.

Will Cristiano Ronaldo extend his stay at Al-Nassr?

Although Cristiano Ronaldo has won the league in England, Spain, and Italy, the Saudi Pro League trophy has eluded him. The Riyadh-based club last won the league in 2019 and have finished second in the last two campaigns.

Al-Nassr are currently fourth in the league table after five games, four points behind leaders Al-HIlal. The Portuguese superstar will be desperate to win the league this season and assert his dominance in the Middle East.

Ronaldo has scored 65 goals in 72 games across competitions for Al-Nassr and won the Arab Club Champions Cup last year. He is in the final year of his contract and his deal expires in 2025.

An extension hasn't been agreed yet, although it is likely, given his recent form. There have also been talks of a possible return to his boyhood club Sporting CP, although those rumours have dried up.
