“I don’t even know him!” - Nantes owner shuts down ‘bulls**t’ rumors of Liverpool superstar Trent Alexander-Arnold buying club with savage claim
FC Nantes owner Waldemar Kita has dispelled rumors that Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold was on the verge of purchasing the Ligue 1 club. French news outlet L’Equipe claimed that the England international wanted to buy Nantes through an English investment firm owned by his father.
Kita was reportedly eager to offload the club due to Ligue 1's inability to secure a lucrative TV deal, among other factors.
However, sources close to Alexander-Arnold have refuted the claims, with The Athletic’s James Pearce claiming that the reports were false. Nantes owner Waldemar Kita has publicly denied the rumors that Alexander-Arnold is in talks to buy the club as well. He told Presse Ocean (via Daily Mail):
''If this is true? But this is all bullshit! Where did this come from? How do you expect a serious man who wants to buy a club to go through a journalist? Trent Alexander-Arnold? But I don't even know him! I just spoke to my lawyer, I asked him: "Who is this guy?" He told me that his father was in finance and that they have a few players and other agents...
The Polish businessman added:
''I have never had a video conference with anyone. Never in my life. It's nonsense. But how do you expect that in this kind of business, with such sums... When I sold my company (Vivacy), no one knew about it, not even among the staff. That's business. All this is done to hurt, to disrupt... It's not serious."
Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold rejects contract offer amid interest from Real Madrid – Reports
Trent Alexander-Arnold has reportedly rejected an offer to extend his stay at Liverpool with his contract at Anfield set to expire next summer. The 25-year-old seems to be facing competition for his position in Liverpool’s starting XI, having played the full 90 minutes in only Premier League match this season.
According to Spanish publication SPORT, Alexander-Arnold has rejected an offer to extend his stay at Liverpool, with sporting director Richards Hughes not willing to give up.
Amidst this saga, reigning La Liga champions Real Madrid are reportedly interested in the English defender and are already in contact with the player and his agents.
If the reports of Alexander-Arnold rejecting an offer to extend his stay at Anfield are true, Los Blancos are expected to make a move to sign him as a free agent next summer.
